The castle of Meauce: it is a unique architecture, but also an archaeological site! Its particular shape, round, surrounded by its moat, bathed and fed by the river Allier makes it an original element of medieval architecture. Few castles look like Meauce. Its abandonment for such a long time and the absence of modification and improvement in the nineteenth century make Meauce an interesting element of studies. Today, its 14 ha, its dead arm of the alliance, the double avenue of linden, the ancient medieval enclosure, the barns and the hamlet are fully classified Historical Monument. The Castle of Meauce is located in Natura 2000 zone and on the classified site of Bec d'Allier (site where the Loire meets the Allier). An ornithological richness is present on this site: Crane Ash, Heron Bihoreau, Whi
