The hospital of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries has preserved its three sick rooms with its original furniture and a garden of medicinal plants.
The apothecary, one of the oldest and most beautiful preserved in situ in France, includes more than 300 earthenware pots and glassware.
The ensemble, which is not afraid to compete with Beaune, is a testimony of hospitable life since the 17th century.

About the location

Hôtel-Dieu de Tournus
21 rue de l'hôpital, 71543 Tournus
  • Saône-et-Loire
  • Bourgogne-Franche-Comté
Rebuilt in 1760, the Hôtel-Dieu is a 5,700 m² building comprising two courtyards separated by a building with a dome and a dome. To see: the wrought iron railing, the frescoes adorning the drum and representing four themes of the hospital iconography. Apothecary is a splendid space due to the famous architect of Louis XV, Jacques-Germain Soufflot, his pupil Melchior Munet and Michel Minoya. Located on the ground floor of the Hôtel-Dieu, it features a rich collection of pharmacy pots, some of which probably come from the Rey pottery, established in Mâcon in the 18th century
