Discover this Castle which finds its origin from the XIVth century, when the domain is bought by Jean Coquille, ancestor of Guy Coquille (1523-1603), famous historian of Nivernais and jurist. The Castle is extended in the XVIIth century, then widely transformed in the XVIIIth century. Abandoned(Given up) in French Revolution, it is in 1966 only the Count and the countess de Montrichard, descendants of Guy Coquille and possessing the Castle at that time, mean settle down there. The current owners acquire(buy back) property in 1982 and make since very important works there.
To note: visits free of outsides are also proposed. Attention: the children are under the responsibility of relative(parents) (ponds and staves(moats) in water not reassured(secured)).

Modest stronghold in the Middle Ages, discreet residence in the seventeenth, Romenay was the "house of the fields" of Guy Coquille, one of the most famous jurisconsults of his time (1523-1603). Purchased in 1397 by Jean Coquille, the land of Romenay has always remained since the origin until 1982 in the same family, although often transmitted by women. This is how we find Eugène Coquille in 1391 then Gilbert Coquille in 1449\. From his marriage with Jeanne Bourgoing was born Guy Coquille in 1523\. Guy Coquille studied law in Italy and then took over Romenay’s estate in 1553\. First alderman of Nevers in 1568 he is close to Louis de Gonzague, duke of Nevers. In 1603, on the death of Guy Coquille, the castle passed to Verdigny, then to his son Etienne Pommereul. In 1694 appears Claude de Maulnoury, adviser to the court of aids. It is Claude de Maulnoury who at the very beginning of the eighteenth century will build the beautiful farm of Romenay... In 1756 Romenay passed into the hands of
