During the Second World War, the Sennecey-le-Grand region was a high point of resistance. In the forest of La Ferté and in Corlay are formed maquis which operate with sticks S.A.S. Thus, on August 28, 1944, four jeeps under the command of Captain Guy de Combaud, land in Normandy, and after having crossed occupied France, join them to strengthen them. Among their glorious and tragic interventions, the dawn of Monday, September 4, 1944, will remain memorable ….
With the support of Mr André Jarrot, military delegate of General de Gaulle in Saône et Loire, former Minister, companion of the Liberation and Mr Georges Caïtucoli, National President of the Former French Paratroopers free of the «Special Air Service», the International Memorial, erected in 1988, is the bond of remembrance that recalls the sacrifice of those who, in mission behind enemy lines, left their lives for us to live in freedom.
