Baron Philippe de Ternant, it is to this chamberlain of Philippe le Bon -Duc de Bourgogne- then to his son, Charles de Ternant (childhood companion of Charles le Téméraire) that we owe the two triptychs or altarpieces installed in the parish church and which make today the reputation of the commune.

The altarpiece of the virgin commissioned by Philippe de Ternant and his wife Isabeau de Roye, to decorate a chapel of their castle. The flaps at the ends represent donors kneeling in front of an altar. The other parts of the altarpiece represent seven passages in the life of the virgin.
The altarpiece of passion commissioned by Charles de Ternant intended to decorate the high altar of the new church of Ternant planned in 1448\. This altarpiece is dedicated to the cycles of the passion and glorification of Christ. Dating from the fifteenth century, well sheltered, protected by a huge glass window, the two altarpieces throne proudly in the choir of the small church of Ternant, these have passed through the centuries.
