The first stone of the building was laid in 1625 by Pontus de Cyberan, lord of Boyer, bailiff of Mâcon, in the presence of Bishop Louis Dinet for the construction of the convent of Minimes. This place full of history knew many owners before being bought by the City of Mâcon. In turn chapel, wine cellar, gym..., this place becomes at the end of 2014, after major renovation work, a concert hall in the heart of the city centre, a jazz hotspot. Discover the history of these 400 m² vaulted stone cellars, and behind the scenes of one of the most famous jazz clubs in France.

About the location

Le Crescent
Place Saint-Pierre, 71000 Mâcon
  • Saône-et-Loire
  • Bourgogne-Franche-Comté
The Crescent Club de Jazz et Musiques improvisées, created in Mâcon in 1995, has evolved considerably to become a place with local, national and international reach. The almost family-friendly structure that welcomed its public in the cellars of Rue Rambuteau in Mâcon, is now located in the heart of the city center, Place Saint-Pierre. This new venue opened in 2014 is an exception and allows to situate the Crescent as one of the most beautiful jazz venues in France and one of the best equipped. Cozy and spacious, the club is a 400 m2 space of vaulted cellars in exposed stones, with surprising charm and warm with a capacity of 125 people seated and 260 standing.
