In the heart of the town of Montbéliard, the castle stands on a rocky spur that dominates the confluence of the Lizaine and the Allan. This building is for four centuries, from 1397 to 1793, the residence of the dukes of Württemberg. In 1960, the castle became a museum of archaeological collections, natural history and fine arts. and developing since 1970 a collection of contemporary art.
