What was life in the streets of Besancon like on festival or fair days? A tightrope walker rushes over the Doubs, a mermaid, a wild man… Come and discover this exhibition which presents a series of portraits, images and objects of Franche-Comté artists, from the 19th century to today.

Head - of work of Vauban registered on the UNESCO world heritage, the Citadel of Besançon is considered as one of the most beautiful of France. It was principally built between 1678 and 1683, and not much changed in the XVIIIth century. It overhangs more than hundred metres the old city of the from the Franche-Comté capital fitted tightly round in a meander of the river Doubs, offering since its paths round the battlements of spectacular panoramas. Most unusual, learnt cultural and tourist centre mixes between history(story) and living world, the Citadel shelters behind its ramparts three Museums of France today: the Museum and its various wildlife spaces (Zoological Garden, Small firm, Aquarium, Insectarium, Noctarium), the From the Franche-Comté Museum, the Museum of Resistance and Deportation. Real dive in the past, multimedia immersif show "just to see her better" transports you in time(weather) and the space in the discovery of the strong moments which made history of Besançon and the Citadel. Walls, chorus(choir) and vault of the chapel Saint-Étienne, located in the heart of the fortress, become of huge surfaces of projection where if different episodes of an exciting history(story) égrainent.
