About the location

Musée archéologique de la bataille de Gergovie
Plateau de Gergovie 63670 La Roche-Blanche
  • Puy-de-Dôme
  • Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
Opened at the end of 2019, the Musée Archéologique de la Bataille de Gergovie welcomes its visitors to the site of Vercingetorix’s only victory against Julius Caesar during the Gallic War. More than a visit, the museum offers a lively and interactive itinerary. The space combines graphics, models, archaeological objects and multimedia, with an audiovisual room immersing the visitor in the Battle during which the Gauls prevailed over the Romans. The route also allows you to discover the history of the Gauls in Auvergne as well as the geological origins of the Plateau de Gergovie and the grandiose landscapes that surround it, including the Chaîne des Puys and the Faille de Limagne classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
