A documented visit will allow you to discover the most modern fort of the Alps in 1914. Built in 1890, at the same time as the creation of the mountain troops, it was used to prohibit the road going down the Petit-Saint-Bernard pass.

After the annexation of the Savoy in France in 1860, Italy represents a threat and France creates in 1888 the Alpine troops as well as a system of going protection of Jura to Nice: the line Séré of River. The construction of the fort of Vulmix begins in 1890 to prevent any passage on the valley of Tarentaise and in the collar(pass) of the Small Saint Bernard.
