Discovery of the Basilica of Saint Joseph in Grenoble
The “new Church of Saint Joseph” was built between 1914 and 1924 adjacent to the former church of Saint Joseph Lez Grenoble, which was completed in 1696. After the consecration on June 1, 1924, the old church was destroyed and only a few ornaments remained.
Elevated to the title of basilica in 1937 for the particularity of its devotion to Saint Joseph, the building presents a unity of art-deco style, which is found in its stained glass windows, colonnades, baptistery, and confessionals. The basilica houses large organs, built in 1943. Refurbished in the years 1970-1980, it is today managed and animated by young Catholic adults of the Grenoble agglomeration.
We will be happy to welcome you there!
