From 2015 to 2019, the Archaeology and Built Heritage Unit of the Department of Haute-Savoie conducted historical and archaeological research on the alp of Sales, located in the town of Sixt Fer-à-Cheval, within a PCR (Collective Research Project).
This PCR was conducted at several sites in Haute-Savoie (Vallon de Sales, Salève, plateau des Glières) by a multidisciplinary team of archaeologists, geologists, environmentalists, completed by the work of a historian and an archaeozoologist and served by the surveys of a surveyor.
The studies seek to describe and reconstruct human uses as well as to trace the evolution of mountain landscapes and ecosystems from the Middle Ages to the present day.
