The reign of Louis XIV remains marked by the image of an absolute king and a powerful state, giving this period the name of the «Great Century». Invested very young in his duties, educated by Cardinal Mazarin, the sun king embodies the principles of absolutism. In 1682, surrounded by his Court, he moved to the Palace of Versailles, the most important symbol of his power and influence in Europe.
