Painted in 1927 by Théophile Tailhandier (1874-1939), these cartons (oils on canvas) served as models for the realization of the 24 enamelled lava elements representing the roofs of the capital seen from the observatory of La Samaritaine, a true masterpiece of knowledgemake local.

The Sahut Museum is located in the castle of the Bosredon estate, seat of power of a seigneurial family from the High Middle Ages. The collection of the Sahut Museum is based on the donation of Yvonne and Marcel Sahut to the municipality in 1985\. The painter of Volviccian origin and his wife entrusted Volvic with nearly 2000 works. The Sahut collection reflects the career of a collector painter, Marcel Sahut (1901-1990), an independent artist associated with the École de Paris.
