In 1868, a young Chamberian priest, Camille Costa de Beauregard created an emergency orphanage in the Bocage district, intended to welcome young people facing the misery of workers caused by a cholera epidemic (1867). He quickly expressed the wish to train these young people and give them a trade. Heated greenhouses were built in 1890\. A precursor, Bocage is the first horticultural farm to have such an infrastructure. Camille Costa de Beauregard will dedicate her life, her heritage and the gifts received to educate her young protégés by preparing them for horticultural professions. Upon his death in 1910, his nephew, Bishop Ernest Costa de Beauregard, who had been trained by him, took charge of Bocage until his death in 1954\. Before his death he had negotiated his succession with the then Salesian leader and specified that «The Salesians will come at the death of Bishop Costa or when he will call them.» Since then the Salesians have taken over the direction and educational responsibi
