Before becoming the property of the Counts of Fésigny, the castle takes its name from the Lower Latin Ruga, a furrow in red patois, a path. The name rua will become Ruaz. Built around 1380 by the lord of the Ruaz, it is originally a strong house to which will be added several constructions over the centuries. In the 17th century, two small round towers were built below, one of which served as a dovecote, privilege of the nobility.
