About the location

Église Sainte-Géronce
21-23 rue du 4 Septembre, 33710 Bourg

This Neo-Gothic church was built to replace the outdated church of the Recollet Fathers, a convent of men founded in 1627\. In the 19th century, the church wanted to encourage a revival of Catholic worship; it encouraged the construction of new religious buildings in Gironde. Thus, in 1856, the church of Saint-Géronce was consecrated. Because of the lack of space, its head was turned south, contrary to what the liturgy foresees. The original 1861 organ is remarkable.
