Dax Odyssey: 2035 years of urban history
Discovery of the urban and architectural evolution of the city of Dax since its origins.
Designed by the Musée de Borda, the Planning Department and the Municipal Archives, in collaboration with the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, the Service Historique de la Défense, the Archives départementales des Landes, the Société de Borda and the Intercommunal Office of Tourism and Thermalism of the Grand Dax, this exhibition aims to restore four years of research on the architecture and urban evolution of Dax. The opportunity to present the inventory of the rich municipal built heritage, which tells us the history of a territory and remains the memory of its successive mutations.
What political choices and natural constraints have shaped the city? How has the landscape changed? Who were the architects of these great changes? What architecture came to us? These are all questions that are answered by means of various media such as graphic arts, photography, archives, archaeology and new digital tools.
At the crossroads of several disciplines, this exhibition is intended to be participatory, playful and accessible to all. It is part of the urban project “Dax 2035”.
