It would be a visit to the city like no other. As if you did not know it. Like a kind of unknown land, to discover. To be rediscovered. An urban wandering, a guided walk to discover a foreign city, all in turn mysterious, sensual, sad or disturbing. A visit dotted with signs, unusual moments, urban poetry, with quirky characters in a setting that is yours... That of the city whose silent subtitles would finally be revealed and details rendered until then unsuspected because almost invisible to the naked eye. A city that unveils secret rites, unspeakable processions, mysterious moments…

Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 Sept.
Exhibition «Les Incroyable modèles du Dr Auzoux» from 3pm to 7pm.
It is said that the young Louis Auzoux, a medical student, could not tolerate dissections and that this led him to invent in the early 1820s models of clastic anatomy*, these papier-mâché models allowing him to become acquainted, by disassembling them from different parts of the human body. Summed up this way, the story may be too simple to be fully believed.
At the beginning of the 19th century, scientists took part in the creation of teaching aids, among which Dr Auzoux’s models quickly distinguished themselves. Its hundreds of artificial pieces spread the notions of human, animal and plant anatomy in many educational institutions.
The University of Lille and the Complutense University of Madrid invite you to discover the scientificity and aesthetics of these artefacts, with works from their collections, from the Faidherbe high schools of Lille and Gambetta of Tourcoing, and from the regional hospital museums of Lille, zoological of Strasbourg and the skinned anatomy of Neubourg.
