On the occasion of this heritage weekend, the Tourism Office of the Pays du Saulnois offers a guided tour of the Château d'Aulnois by night.

Built in the Middle Ages, the castle of Aulnois has not ceased to be enlarged and modified over the centuries by its different families owners. Today it bears witness to several architectural styles, reflecting the thoughts and concerns of past centuries.
First a fortified house built in the fourteenth century, it was owned by the bishopric of Metz. It will then become the property of the Oriocourt family who will do enlargement work and transform the fortified house into a castle. Meet me outside the castle.

The castle of Aulnois-sur-Seille has crossed history. A simple fortified house in the fourteenth century, it was enlarged during the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries, but it took its present face during the eighteenth century. Charles des Armoises asks Germain Boffrand to undertake the construction of a new castle grafted on the old parts, it is from there that dates the magnificent facade that overlooks the Seille.
Subsequently, the castle suffered extensive damage during the First World War but was gradually rebuilt from 1920 and classified as a Historic Monument in 1926\. In 1934, the Marist brothers bought the castle and set up a school and boarding school. During the Second World War it was occupied by the Hitler Youth and suffered further damage during the fighting of the Liberation.
From 1946 to 1979, various construction campaigns partially restored the castle which was then left to be abandoned. In 1993, the SIVOM between Seille and Nied acquired the castle to rehabilitate
