These micro-visits, organized around the notion of «Matrimoine», highlight contemporary female creation through works of art made under the 1% artistic.

The LoRA (Lorraine Contemporary Art) network has chosen to take an attentive look at female artistic creation in the public space through the notion of «Matrimoine». Art historian and researcher Loïc Stelitano accepted an invitation from the network to organize a 1% tour of the works that he has been studying since 2017.
Our approach is based on the principle that mediation is a means to a better recognition, and beginning of appropriation, of works of art in the public space.
The selection of works is intended to be broad and representative of the diversity of artistic creation, from the 1950s until 2000: ceramics, installations, sculptures and paintings will be presented. The visits are organized in a similar way and are expected to last 45 minutes.
The crossing of sketches and preliminary sketches with precious testimonies and anecdotes of artists, architects and users witnesses of the realization of the 1% will allow to discover the work in a new light.
Thanks to these sources, it is the whole of the commission, from the genesis to the realization of the work, that can be documented.
We hope that these unpublished visits, intended to shed light on female artistic creation in the public space, will not fail to pique your curiosity!
Short biography of the artist
Françoise Schrepfer-Malaprade, born in 1934 in Nancy, is a painter. She lives and works in Vandœuvre-lès-Nancy, in her house-workshop since the 1960s.
In 1952, she joined the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Nancy, from which she graduated in 1959. From then on, she regularly received public commissions: the famous «1% artistic».
His monumental works can be found throughout the metropolitan urban space, particularly in Nancy and Vandœuvre, where his creations are recognized and appreciated.
We can mention the concrete reliefs on churches and public facilities, but also several tapestries of Aubusson and even a true fresco!
Since the 1990s, she has devoted herself to a more personal and essentially pictorial work that has led her to exhibit regularly, notably in Denise René’s prestigious gallery.
Presentation of the work 1% artistic
In 1968, the artist was designated to produce the 1% artistic work of the Jeanne d'Arc school group. This was the most important school building programme the city had built on the south-east of the Boulevard de l'Europe.
Françoise Schrepfer-Malaprade proposes an ambitious decorative program that must be developed on all the facades of the three school buildings. It produces 62 concrete elements moulded in the form of rhythms that unfold in the facade and that it animates in color by Buchtal ceramics.
