This exhibition highlights the specificities of Lorraine and Meuse villages from the end of the 18th century to the First World War.
Created by the Archives départementales de la Meuse in partnership with the Conseil d'Architecture, d'Urbanisme et de l'Environnement de Meuse, it reveals the richness of vernacular architecture, that is, everyday life, which has a local, social and functional dimension.
The archival documents preserve the testimony of this «small heritage» and evoke the cultural, economic, historical, scientific or technical contexts that led to the evolution of the villages.
