These micro-visits, organized around the notion of «Matrimoine», highlight contemporary female creation through works of art made under the 1% artistic.

Presentation of the project
The LoRA (Lorraine Contemporary Art) network has chosen to take an attentive look at female artistic creation in the public space through the notion of «Matrimoines». Art historian and researcher Loïc STELITANO has agreed to organise a 1% tour of the works, which he has been studying since 2017, at the invitation of the network. Our approach is based on the principle that mediation is a means towards a better recognition and beginning of appropriation of works of art in the public space.
The selection of works is intended to be broad and representative of the diversity of artistic creation, from the 1950s until 2000: ceramics, installations, sculptures and paintings will be presented. The visits are organized in a similar way and are expected to last 45 minutes. The crossing of sketches and preliminary sketches with precious testimonies and anecdotes of artists, architects and users witnesses of the realization of the 1% will allow to discover the work in a new light. Thanks to these sources, it is the whole of the order from the genesis to the realization of the work that can be documented.
We hope that these unpublished visits, intended to shed light on female artistic creation in the public space, will not fail to pique your curiosity!
Short biography of the artist
Françoise Bizette (1914-1996), born in May 1914 in Lannion, was mainly a ceramist and painter. She lived with her brother André Bizette-Lindet, also a sculptor, ceramist and holder of the Grand Prix of Rome in his house-workshop in Sèvres. After her baccalaureate, she studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and at the Ecole du Louvre, which provided her with a solid foundation in art history. From 1950 she was appointed professor of sculpture at the «pilot» high school of Sèvres. This type of «pilot» high school encourages all pedagogical innovations and it is in this sense that Françoise Bizette creates there the ceramic workshop which has trained many artists who in turn became ceramists. She continued her professional career between her courses in ceramics high school, but also art history until her retirement in 1974.
At the end of her life, she refocused on painting, ceramic requiring much more physical energy, she died in Sèvres in 1996. Demonstrating a great mastery of the arts of fire, and having learned ceramics in an almost self-taught way, the artist received a first prestigious commission: a ceramic furniture set for the Palais de l'Élysée in 1946. Subsequently, she made numerous commissions, we find her achievements under the 1% artistic throughout France.
Presentation of the work 1% artistic
In May 1958, she was entrusted with the realization of the decorative program for the realization of the artistic 1% of the boarding school of the new high school of girls of the Parc Sainte-Marie, current Lycée Frédéric Chopin (arch: Jean Bourgon and Jacques Duvaux). Françoise Bizette offers a vast collection of stoneware ceramics partly enamelled. The cycle unfolds over the entire day school in three distinct modes of implementation, animating in their own way the facades of the homes. The ceramist, with her knowledge of the Middle Ages, delivers here an incredible bestiary in enamelled sandstone illustrating as much birds, as fish or plants.
