Moulin de la Blies

The so-called «Moulin de la Blies» site was, between 1825 and 1969, one of the many manufacturing units of the pottery of Sarreguemines. The mill building, which became the Museum of Earthenware Techniques, was used to prepare earthenware pasta, while the host house housed the family of the site director in the 19th century. Behind the mill, many workshops and storage places have disappeared. Nature took back its rights over their ruins, and this set of plants and minerals gave birth to the Garden of Earthenware, imagined by the landscaper Philippe Niez. Over the years, the City of Sarreguemines has gathered a large collection of machinery and tools specific to the ceramics industry in the 19th and 20th centuries.
The layout of this collection inside the Moulin de la Blies corresponds to a logic of «ambiance museum»: on the tables, piles of plates ready to be cooked or decorated; on the ground, dollies of raw material; between two machines, a dryer loaded with pieces...
