The first stone of the citadel of Ajaccio was laid in 1492. For more than five centuries, this fortification has witnessed the evolution of the history and urbanism of the city. Today at the heart of a rehabilitation program to make it a neighbourhood in its own right, the citadel makes the link between the Ajaccio of yesterday and the Ajaccio of tomorrow.
