The Technicentre Périole SNCF Midi-Pyrénées houses the construction site of the steam locomotive of the 241P series, built in France at Le Creusot in 1950.
With 4000 horsepower, this locomotive has towed the most prestigious trains in France like the Mistral. It is one of the most powerful in Europe. It has been under restoration since 2009 in the SNCF workshops in Toulouse. The association «Amicale des anciens et amis de la traction à vapeur Midi Pyrénées» is in charge of restoring it. The current state of the locomotive makes it possible to discover in its entirety its chassis, its boiler and its imposing wheels of 2 m diameter, as well as its tender.
