Exhibits: “The Estuary from the Sky” and “Estuary Landscapes from Shore to Shore”
From 14 to 27 September, take advantage of two exhibitions to discover the environment of the Gironde estuary with many photos from the sky!
Line of cliffs, marshes, ocean of vines, forests... the landscapes of the right bank of the Gironde estuary offer a wide variety of shapes and colors. Seen from the sky, they reveal their richness and diversity and reveal their permanent evolution. This is what this exhibition produced by the Poitou-Charentes region shows.
The landscape and environmental dimension is fully part of the heritage inventory of the municipalities bordering the Gironde estuary, led by the Poitou-Charentes region. This study, carried out in scientific partnership with the Aquitaine Region and the Gironde General Council, highlights the close relations that have been maintained for centuries between the inhabitants of the banks of the estuary and their environment. It also draws attention to the many links between cultural heritage and natural heritage.
Accessible to all, the exhibition retraces the history and evolution of these landscapes that have constantly been transformed over the centuries, in a natural way or by the hand of man. It presents a selection of exceptional aerial photographs taken during the inventory operation.
