Founded in 1889, the Union Compagnonnique du Tour de France is an association that brings together men from different professions around the same ideal: to learn, to progress and to transmit one’s knowledge while affirming oneself as a man. Its mission is the accomplishment of man in and through his profession. Being a Companion has always been a symbol of professional qualities and moral correctness.
All the Companions of the Union Compagnonnique des Devoirs Unis, in France, Switzerland, Belgium and all over the world, perpetuate this will and transmit it to the young people who want to follow the path to become Aspirants then Companions.
In 2010, “Compagnonnage, a network for the transmission of knowledge and identities by the profession” was recognized and inscribed as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.
