We’re turning to the castle!

Description

The castle of Champs-sur-Marne, witness of the history of France from the eighteenth century to 1971, is a place of shooting of 80 productions.
Organized by: Château de Champs-sur-Marne (CMN)
The elegant architecture of the castle, its furnished interiors and its park make it a sought-after filming place. The castle was used as scenery for nearly 80 productions for cinema, television and even advertising: The dangerous connections of s.Frears, The alley of the king of N.Companeez, Marie-Antoinette de S.Coppola..
The students will carry out a 2h30 discovery course that will be organized in several stages:

  • screening of several film clips shot on the ground floor of the castle
  • guided tour of the ground floor in the form of a "cinematographic tour"
  • Workshop "in the shoes of a director": From the audio sources of several "ghost" scenes shot on the 1st floor, the students in small groups, will divide the spaces of the castle to realize one of these scenes. With the help of a model file, they will have to build the realization of their scene by making a story board with vignettes for the different shots; by taking pre-shoot photos in order to anticipate the shots and the interaction between the different characters, and reflecting on the decorations, the lighting. The aim is to bring them to understand all the stages of the realization of a scene and to develop a spirit of synthesis allowing the organization of its final montage.
  • guided tour of the 1st floor enriched by the explanations and ideas of the students
  • presentation of the work of the different groups and viewing of the ghost excerpts

Built at the beginning of the 18th century, the Château de Champs stands out for its modernity, with the appearance of a new art of living and the search for comfort. It welcomes illustrious tenants such as the dukes of the Vallière, Madame de Pompadour, men of letters and Encyclopedists. Acquired by the state in 1934, it became a presidential residence and 20 foreign heads of state stayed there from 1958 to 1969\. The 85-hectare Château Park is labeled Remarkable Garden, with a classic French-inspired garden set set in an English-style landscaped park. The castle reopened on 29 June 2013 after 7 years of closure and a major restoration project of the monument and its collections. Digital tablets in 3 languages and LSF allow you to follow the visit in a fun and enjoyable way.
