For the second part of Locomotions it is a question of taking a counter-point look, through the collection of posters of the City of Chaumont, of the initial exhibition dedicated to the means of individual travel. Questioning the modes of public transport, but overflowing with the initial question, the exhibition deals with mobility: that of the obvious journey, that of the journey, that of the exile.

Chaumont and the poster are bound by a common destiny since the donation of the deputy Gustave Dutailly - nearly 5,000 old posters - in 1905\.
Representative of the «golden age» of the French illustrated poster, the Dutailly collection is one of the main French public collections in the field. The rediscovery of this heritage in the 1980s led to the creation of an international poster festival, followed by a graphic arts festival, which enriched the collection with posters sent to the competition by graphic designers from all continents. Chaumont’s contemporary poster collection now includes approximately 45,000 iconic pieces of the best international poster production in recent decades.
It is on the quality of this collection and the recognition of the festival that developed the project of establishing in Chaumont the first permanent place in France dedicated to graphics. The centre is located on the site of the former Banque de France.
