Jean Robert, known as Ipoustéguy, was one of the major sculptors of the second half of the 20th century. Born in 1920, in Dun-sur-Meuse, he died in his native town in 2006. Solitary, he did not follow, nor initiate, any current, any school. Insatiable worker, he will make 600 sculptures, hundreds of watercolours, drawings, paintings. His works, often monumental, are present in the largest international public collections.
On the occasion of the centenary of its birth, the Conseil départemental de la Meuse organizes an Ipoustéguy Season to which MUDAAC is associated by the presentation, in the permanent exhibition rooms, of a selection of paintings and sculptures of the 1950s and 1980s.
