The population of Montigny-lès-Metz increased considerably between 1880 and 1910. It became urgent to build a church for Catholic worship. The German architect, Ludwig Becker, specialized in religious architecture, proposes a project combining the charm of the Romanesque and the splendour of the Gothic. In 1906, the church was inaugurated and revealed to the faithful superb frescoes and stained glass windows.
