The chartreuse of Port-Sainte-Marie is located at the heart of Combrailles at the edge of Sioule, on the municipality of Chapdes-Beaufort. Having based(established) in 1219 further to a donation of Guillaume and Raul de Beaufort the monastery establishes(constitutes) of an agricultural and land domain until Limagne especially in the region of Prompsat. Only Carthusian medieval in Auvergne, the site of the Chartreuse Port-Sainte-Marie is particularly remarkable for its archaeological wealth. It is registered in conformance with(for) historic monuments. Since 1970, an association the friends of the chartreuse Port-Sainte-Marie becomes attached to the protection(saving) of the site.
