About the location

Eglise-Saint-Etienne
Place de l'église, 10110 Bar-sur-Seine
  • Aube

The Saint Etienne Church combines elements of Renaissance and classical architecture with a flamboyant Gothic architecture and imposing dimensions.

Listed as a Historic Monument since July 10, 1907, it is a witness building of the history of the town.

The building is rich with an important statuary attributed to the largest workshops such as that of Primatice (the Assumption of the Virgin) and Dominic the Florentine (Joseph and the baby Jesus and the Education of the Virgin).

The considerable number of hagiographic windows with decorative greyness, most of which date back to the 16th century, makes the Saint Etienne Church a veritable museum of stained glass.
