Exhibition(Exposure) "Globes, world within reach of hand. Collections of the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries"
September 20th, 2019 - January 19th, 2020
On the occasion of a big(great) operation of restoration(catering) of two splendid globes of the Dutch cartographer Wilhem Blaeu, the museum proposes a dive to the public in the Century of Dutch gold. Rare works of Renaissance, coming from the central library(bookcase) of the Academy, and from the scientific instruments, taken(brought) out of the reserves of the museum, supplement presentation(display). Three French globes of the end of the XVIIIth century, of Small fort and Delamarche, also recently restored, come evoke the passage of witness(baton) of the Netherlands in France of the Enlightenment, before the hegemony of Great Britain of Industrial revolution. A short movie documents main stages of the restoration(catering) of the globes of Blaeu and a digital device within sight 3D invites the visitors to make turn(shoot) globes and to observe their details finely drawn and coloured.

The permanent exhibition of the Museum of Arts and Crafts is organized into seven thematic collections, which themselves are subdivided into four chronological periods (before 1750, 1750-1850, 1850-1950, after 1950): scientific instruments, materials, construction, communication, energy, mechanical and transport. Complementary presentations emphasize particular points: the laboratory of Lavoisier, the theatre of automata. In the old church is presented, among other things, the experience of the rotation of the earth by means of the pendulum of Leon Foucault.
