Old(Former) "Louppy-les-deux-Châteaux" keeps(preserves) the vestiges of the fortress of XIITH - XIVTH centuries
The church Saint Martin of neo-Romanic style, is built on the ruins of the old(former) fortified castle and takes the shape of a Latin cross compound(made up) of three vessels with a salient transept ending by a bedhead in three pieces.
Size(Greatness) and surprising volume of the church contrast with those of the ambient villages and give some explanation by many population of time(period), which reaches(affects) more than 500 inhabitants in the XIXth century. This church was blest in 1878. Once the gros-œuvre erminé, one decided on him(it) to throw(launch) a lottery and a subscription with a view to financing its furniture, operation in which participated not only the Lorraine, but also the numerous French departments and the cities of Belgium and of the Big(Great) - Duchy of Luxembourg. Inside the church, besides the neo-Romanic furniture, a series of stained-glass windows remembers old(former) families of the village, especially those of the Vassinhac d' Imécourt.

Having been a part of Austrasie and Lotharingie, Louppy, located on a headland in a buckle(loop) trained(formed) by Loison, becomes a fortress possessing two castles gathered(combined) by walls, where from its old(former) naming of Louppy-les-deux-Châteaux. At the heart of the village, close to the church, the vestiges of a tower and of a curtain are still visible. At origin, the castle appeared in the form of a quadrilateral accosted by four tours(towers, ballots) of angles and possessed in the past profound staves(moats) fed by very close Loison. Besides the defensive character of the building, its residential function(office) appears certain, taken into account the presence of a fireplace and of seats(sofas) under windows. These vestiges would date undoubtedly the XIIIth or XIVth century, but the first mention(distinction) of a castle is certified at the end of the XIIth century as property of the count of Bar Thibaut Ier. Later the seigniory of Louppy will be shared between different families, up to the arrival of the family of Pouilly in the XVIth century (Wikipedia source).
