Museum redrawing the history(story) of the concentration camp of Vernet of the Ariège through documents, objects, photos (in particular 2000 photos face / profile of committing dating the end of 1939 and the beginning of 1940), drawings and a model of the concentration camp. New exhibition(exposure) presents what took place of 1939 in 1944 in this concentration camp. There is a flexible version of this exhibition(exposure) which we lend free to demand(request).
The cemetery between Vernet of the Ariège and Saverdun has from now on an environmental park with 5 historic panels(signs) and a square of nationalities. Our last researches(searches) allowed us to count more than 70 nationalities representing 5 continents for the committing.
It is also possible to visit the Space Station-car which is under way of arrangement(development). The future panels(signs) will redraw the history(story) of 6226 deported people and of 55 convoys of deportation which left this French concentration camp.
Already you can discover on a banner 35 metres long the index cards(forms) of internment of 178 foreigners deported on July 25th, 1940. It is about the first convoy of deportation of France left of the concentration camp of Vernet of the Ariège.
During these days, in our car, you will be able to see an exhibition(exposure) of paintings(boards) realised by Carlos Duchatellier, Haitian painter committed from 1941 till 1944 before its deportation towards the concentration camp of Alderney.
The registration(inscription) on the additional inventory of Historic monuments and Sites was actée on December 1st, 2015 unanimously.
