Visit of the Bunker 638 - Second World War
further to the disembarkation(unloading) of the Allies in North Africa, in November, 1942, Hitler orders the South the invasion of the French "Free" said zone. As they made it side Atlantic, more than 900 bunkers are built on the Mediterranean Coast creating "Sudwall", (the Wall of the Mediterranean Sea), of whom(which) near(about) a hundred for the municipality of Agde and its Course(Cape). Tamarissière, zone of a possible disembarkation(unloading), is strongly strengthened and possesses two batteries(drum kits) of defence. In the centre of this device(plan) an impressive bunker-infirmary of type 638, of 100m2, the only one open to visit in the Mediterranean Sea.
You will discover at once a German battleship with its specificities of defence and some amazing surprises, but also an exhibition(exposure) evoking big(great) themes of the Second World War, as the regional German organisation, the life of Agathois, the construction of bunkers, organisation of German defence in Tamarissière, or else different stages of reopening and of restoration(catering) …
Outside troops in uniform of time(period), around a reconstructed military camping, will tell you uniforms and equipments of this temp of war.
It is an opportunity(occasion) to recollect these old(former) times(weathers) of conflict and to remember the changeless European links which join us from now on so that the history(story) of the Second World War répete not in the present times(weathers)
