The abbey was based(established) in 1230 by Hugues X de Lusignan as girl of the abbey of Clairvaux. Endowed with prestigious buildings(ships), of which a superb abbey church, the monastery was for a long time flourishing, but numerous difficulties began(primed) a decline which the revolutionary storm precipitated. She(It) was destroyed to a great extent during the wars of religion by 1585 and lost the main part of her(its) incomes. She(It) was rebuilt at the beginning of the XVIIth century. In the XVIIIth century, she(it) counted no more than 4 members of a religious order. In Revolution, the abbey was sold as very national in 1791\. The abbey church in ruins was shaved in the XIXth century. A part(party) of constructions was Registered or listed(classified) Historic monuments in 1997 and 1999: the porterie of the XVth century, the hotel business of the XIIIth century, the refectory builds in the XIIIth century and restored since 2004, the bridge(deck) on Dive and the abbey house.
