About the location

Hôtel Isaïe de Rochefort
102 Grand'Rue, 86000 Poitiers
  • Vienne
  • Nouvelle-Aquitaine
Given in 1469 by the king Louis XI to its solicitor and secretary, Jean de Moulins, Lord of Rochefort, the hotel lived(remained) up to the environment(middle) of the XVIIth century the property of the family of Moulins(Mills). What remains(subsists) today was built by Isaïe Brochard, alderman of Poitiers, and her wife, Charlotte de Moulins, there between 1599 and 1629\. The hotel served as home to several treasurers before being bought in 1786 by Louis XVI to serve as store in supplies and as military bakery. Acquired in 1969 by the Ministry of Culture, it was since then restored and extended. A site done up the from XVIIth century till XXIth century
The home in bottom of court(yard), as well as the detached house(flag) of entrance(entry), date 1599 - on 1629\. These two buildings(ships) are listed(classified) historic monuments since 1929.
Between 1969 and 1974, the site, then very shaded, was restructured by the architect Charles Dorian to welcome the Regional Cultural Affairs Directorate of Poitou-Charentes. At the ground floor, the home includes from now on a big(great) stone staircase resulting(coming) from a mansion of Poitiers demolished(destroyed) during the drilling of the street Henri-Pétonnet. Between the old(former) front-door of the home and its end is, the floor of height emphasises a big(great) well-built room in hull of vessel.
Facing new home, Claude H. Aubert built in 1985 a modern building(ship) in the location of four old(former) houses. The facade is in wooden pieces on street and in stony facing, aluminium and glass smoked on court(yard). In 1990s, the Deshoulières et Jeanneau cabinet pursued the reorganisation of the site and underlined the rectangle trained(formed) by the court(yard). A gallery of covered traffic(circulation) was added in ground floor(floors) between the new home and the building(ship) of 1985\. East of the home, a contemporary extension was added. The staircase of honour
It is in 1968 when the staircase of honour of the Hotel of Rochefort, dating the XVIIIth century, was registered on the Additional Inventory of Historic monuments, what cost it to be saved from destruction. Indeed this one was not in the current place but had been built in a located mansion in 20, street Bourbeau a big(great) part(party) of which had been demolished(destroyed) in 1968 to drill the street Pétonnet. The staircase was therefore disassembled and kept(taken down and kept) preserved.
To restore in the staircase of honour a quality decoration(set), DRAC of Poitou-Charentes took in 1997 the decision to place order to a renowned artist, of two cardboards(boxes) with the aim of the realisation of new tapestries. Albert Ayme was so contacted for the creation of original works adapted to their place of welcome(reception). Important works were also begun(undertaken) in the Hotel of Rochefort and on its staircase of honour, to receive at best the works of Albert Ayme, installed(settled) in September, 2002 and inaugurated on October 4th of the same year..
