About the location

Église Saint-Pierre Saint-Paul
144 rue de l'Église, 86130 Dissay
  • Vienne
  • Nouvelle-Aquitaine
The church of Dissay is dated by the coat of arms of Pierre d' Amboise, bishop of Poitiers (1450-1505). The church, of style Flamboyant Gothic, dates the XVth century. It is registered on the inventory of Historic monuments since 1926\. The wars of Religion brought degradations to this building which was therefore dedicated again by Louis Henry Chasteigner de La Roche-Posay, bishop of Poitiers of 1611-1652\. The facade is remarkable for its tympanum up to date topped with a gâble and also for the location of the bell tower placed slantwise in the South of the facade. Two chapels were built in the XVIIth century on each side of the nave. The church made the object of several restorations(caterings) in the course of the XIXth and XXth centuries.
