Old(Former) city(estate) of the leather containing up to 50 tanneries along Boivre, Lavausseau keeps(preserves) an unique(only) historical and technical heritage. The hospitable(hospital) commanderie invites in an initiatory journey at the heart of history(story), of architecture and of life of the city(estate). An industry born from the XIIth century thanks to the order of the Hospital workers of Saint Jean de Jérusalem. The tannery of Boivre, with its machines, its tools, its atmosphere proposes a sensory and technical visit in an unique(only) and unknown universe. The transformation of a living and touching matter. The house of the leather - spaces out leathers and skins, workshop(studio) of the leather and shop – supplement guided tours with an exhibition(exposure) devoted to the theme of the leather, in free access. In connection with theme 2017, association city(estate) of the tanners, preserves, promotes and livens up(leads) this heritage, in particular of machines dating of more than a century. The volunteers realise construction sites(works) to bring out(loosen) the old(former) pits of plant tanning along Boivre.
