Between medieval and thermal heritage. Located close to the confluence between rivers the Creuse and Gartempe, the market town of Roche-Posay is implanted on a rocky éminence. Since this site, the Lords of the place could check(control) a strategical passage leading of the province of Poitou to Touraine. At the beginning of its history(story), Roche-Posay is affiliated to the barony of Angles then pass in the money bag of the barons of Preuilly in the course of Middle Ages. It is then the Chasteigner de La Roche-Posay family which reigns over the châtellenie, of that one of the members was bishop of Poitiers at the beginning of the 17th century. The history(story) of the municipality left tracks in its architecture. Also(So), the donjon of the old(former) castle, the church Notre-Dame and the Door Bourbon are so many(much) witnesses(batons) of the past which it is possible to observe even today. The municipality acquired its fame thanks to its sources(springs) of thermal waters. It is at the end of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th century when the thermal baths of Roche-Posay gain(win) their letters of nobilities. The persons having hydrotherapy come then in number to look for these waters rich in selenium, silica and calcium, to handle rheumatisms and skin diseases, as eczema or psoriasis. Today, this thermal remarkable heritage trains(forms) a consistent set(group) (thermal baths, hotels, spa, casino, racecourse, villas, etc.).
