Regional archaeology is represented since the Prehistory with very beautiful palaeolithic engravings of the Cave of the Marche(Walking). The Gallo-Roman antiquity(antique) introduces the visitor into the city(estate) of Pictons, under the protective look of Athena, marble statue of Ie century AD. Late antiquity and High Middle Ages manifest sculpted sarcophagi. A beautiful series of sculptures calls back(reminds) the extraordinary influence(radiation) of the Romanic workshops(studios) in Poitou.
In the department of Fine Arts, the route(course) takes place around works painted and sculpted of the XIVth century up to the environment(middle) of the XXth century. The big(great) artistic currents of the XIXth century, neoclassicism, orientalism, ingrisme, symbolism invite the visitor up to the works of Camille Claudel.
