Located in an agricultural property, this building is under way of protection(saving). She(It) illustrates limits of the kingdoms of France and of England in Middle Ages. Having accompanied with the castle of Faye and of the church strengthened by the market town of Auriac-du-Périgord, she is a member of the very organised whole defence.

The strong house of Ségelard was built during Hundred Years' War to protect from enemy incursions the châtellenie of Montignac, isolated in the middle of the English fiefs. During centuries, till the end of the Sling(Revolt) in 1652, she(it) served as observation post, as no defence and as refuge for the farmers of surroundings. She(It) is characteristic of strong houses of Périgord.
