Conservation area, the romantic and picturesque gardens of Marqueyssac offer around a castle covered with lauzes of the beginning of the XIXth century, more than 6 kilometres of shady walks, lined with 150 000 hundred-year-old boxwoods cut in the hand, and decorated with belvederes, rocks, waterfalls(stunts) and open-air theatres...
In Marqueyssac, the boxwood is emphasised with a whim full of movement everything in roundness and cuts it moutonnante.
These are gardens most visited of Périgord today.
Done up on a rocky spur, the 22 hectare park dominates the valley of its high cliffs. [STOP_TRANSLATION]Des manifestations sont organisées chaque année sur le site : « Grande chasse aux œufs de Pâques» les après-midi des dimanche et lundi de Pâques, « Fête des jardins » chaque premier dimanche de juin. Ce sont également les « Soirées aux chandelles » tous les jeudis soir de juillet et août. Les jardins s’illuminent de 2000 bougies. Des animations rythment lapromenade : pianiste, quatuor de saxophones, formation de jazz,déambulation sur échasses, duo guitare voix et atelier decréation de bougies pour les enfants.
Les visiteurs trouveront également sur le site boutique, librairie. Un restaurant - salon de thé situé dans l’aile du château et sur la terrasse panoramique, propose en saison restauration légère et rafraîchissements.
