The gentle river Charente draws the harmonious landscapes of the country of Angoulême. Over the centuries, the economic development of the territory was confidentially bound(connected) to its presence: business(trade) of the salt and of the wine, the production of paper and of products of the smithy, etc. By giving food and work, by allowing travels(movements) and exchanges, the Charente played a key role to in the first half of the XXth century.
