The donjon of the castle of Montreuil Bonnin was chosen by the mission of Stephane Bern, the bingo of heritage for its historic and architectural interest.
The owners and the Association of the friends du Château propose a guided tour of the fortress and of gardens in suits(costumes) and medieval atmosphere to discover or to rediscover heritage of your region.
The castle follows a programme of restoration(catering) since 2013 with the help of DRAC, you will be able so to have precise information about made restorations(caterings) and those in study which will concern the donjon and the postern, in the short and medium term.
Refreshment bar proposed by the Association of the Friends of the Castle of Montreuil Bonnin.

Exceptional witness(baton) of the military architecture of the beginning of the XIIIth century, this castle is a centre of the history(story) of Poitou. He(It) played a military and economic role mattering since Plantagenêts up to the wars of religion. Since the fairy Mélusine, to whom legend attributes(awards) the construction of the donjon, numerous famous characters followed one another there: Alienor d' Aquitaine, Richard Cœur de Leo, Blanche de Castille, Saint-Louis, Alphonse de Poitiers, from Guesclin, François de la Noue... Position moved forward for the protection of the city of Poitiers, it sheltered one of the most important medieval monetary workshops(studios). Under Revolution, the castle is dismantled before being saved from the ruins and classified as "Historic Monument" in 1840\. The family of the current owners acquires the domain in 1862\. Works of protection(saving) and interview(maintenance) have started again since 2012 in cooperation with DRAC of Poitiers.
