The current Gay-Lussac high school is the heir of a long history(story) which goes back up(raises) in 1521. Today, he(it) keeps(preserves) the tracks of his(its) past of middle school(college) of Jesuits with his(its) chapel of the XVIIth century. After the departure of the Jesuits in 1762, the building makes the object of different extensions: building(ship) of the XVIIIth century built by the architect Joseph Brousseau, " small district " built under Napoleon III; scientific wing inaugurated in 1934, " average district " rebuilt in 1960s, before works of modernisation and of extension. So many(much) buildings(ships) and construction phases which manifest transfers(transformations) of the city and of the school institution for more than four centuries.
A part(party) of the high school was registered in conformance with(for) Historic monuments by order of December 16th, 1936. This protection was spread(widened) in September, 2017 to the most part of the establishment.
