Built in several stages the from XVth century till XVIIth century on order of the Lords of Gratot, of Argouges, the chapel Saint-Gerbold becomes hermitage in 1620\. She(It) keeps(preserves) this function(office) up to the death of the last occupant in 1830\. Sold, Hermitage is then abandoned little by little and degrades in spite of the attempts of restoration(catering) of different passionés. Classified as "Historic Monument" in 1995, bought and restored by the Department of Manche(Channel,Sleeve) in 2000, this exceptional place represents one of the rare examples of hermitages still existing in France.
